As The Glen of Imaal Terrier is a Vulnerable breed, it is unlikely that you will bump into one on a regular basis. Unless fortunate enough to know someone owned by a Glen (or a pack of Glens!) you may not have had the privilege of ever meeting one.
Here are a few ways in which you can meet a Glen and get to know the breed a little better:
- Check the GOITA home page for upcoming events such as the ones below.
- Visit a Game Fair and meet the dogs and owners in an outdoor environment. Game fairs and country fairs are held around the country on various dates and venues throughout the year.
- Discover dogs events are a great place to meet Glens and their humans, try one out and learn more about the breed!
- Discover Dogs run by the Kennel Club and held at ExCel London in November each year, check https://www.discoverdogs.org.uk for details.
Discover Dogs at Crufts each year, check https://www.crufts.org.uk/whats-on/discover-dogs-at-crufts/ for details.
Regional contacts or the association secretary (see GOITA page) are also a useful source of information and can be helpful in putting you in touch with Glens in your area.
Dog shows where Glen classes are being held are a good place to meet the breed and their owners (most exhibitors will be happy to meet you and talk about their dogs after judging is finished!).
